Cycling in the 'Marina Alta' - at the costa blanca

The Costa Blanca consists of two 'geographical' parts namely Marina Baja (low) and Marina Alta (high). The latter is the region where ToLiveFit is active, it concerns the area around Calpe, Dénia, Javéa, Jalón, Pego, Orba, Benissa and Moraira and has been designated the healthiest habitat in Europe by the World Health Organization (WHO).

It is no coincidence that many professional teams choose this region for their winter internship in preparation for the new season. Why? The weather is usually very pleasant, it is described as the best climate in Europe (microclimate). Spring usually sets in quickly, summer is warm but not scalding hot, autumn is better described as late summer and winter is still pleasant.

You can also train in all areas in the region, from the coast you are quickly between the mountains. The foot of the most famous slopes such as Col de Rates and Vall d'Ebo start approximately at 250m above sea level, the peaks are between 600 and 700m above sea level. You can also drive flat, then follow the coast or drive towards Pego - Dénia over beautifully landscaped plains with fruit trees and almond plantations.

Furthermore, the roads are quiet, especially if you go inland. The drivers are remarkably careful and the fellow cyclists are respectful and friendly. The word 'Hola' or 'Buenas' (Buenos Dias) quickly makes cycling friends.
